STORYSCAPE — Bendigo Military Museum

What if you could walk through a museum and feel history move around you?
Status: COMING MAY 2026 (Interior:10 Experiences · Exterior: 10 Experiences)

Storyscape is a new immersive audio artwork created by Aimee Chapman & David Gagliardi. Across a 10-stop binaural headphone experience inside the museum and a 10-stop GPS-triggered outdoor journey, visitors encounter diary fragments, interviews, re-enacted voices, and layered composition and sound design—inviting them not simply to hear history, but to feel it.

SONIC BLOOM

What do flowers sound like?
Date: SPRING 2024

Centred around stories from the City’s Parks and Gardens team, Sonic Bloom was a multi-facted project commissioned by the City of Greater Bendigo. 

Through a series of sound recordings, installations and live performances, Sonic Bloom transformed the historic Rosalind Park Conservatory into a vibrant hub of exploration and connection for the whole of Spring.

“What would a month-long takeover of EGTH look like?”

A coming together of multiple partners across a diverse range of industries for a major health and wellbeing event and museum style immersive experience. Spread across multiple floors at one of Australia’s most innovative venues this project reimagines EGTH as a multi-modal program of events including immersive pre and post show experiences and ancillary events. Featuring animation, multi-screen video art, sound design, interactive exhibits and a composition for six pianos.

YORDJA

How can contemporary sound carry cultural heritage without diluting it?
Status: Launched October 2024 - CURRENT

Yordja takes audiences on a transformative journey, exploring the depths of Aboriginal culture through immersive installation and performances. By incorporating ceremonial elements like Smoking Ceremonies, Troy bridges tradition and modernity, creating powerful metaphors for healing and connection to Country. Through Yordja, he invites audiences to experience the rich intersection of culture, art, and innovation.

Yordja has been presented live at events such as Ok Motels Charlton and White Night Ballarat.

THE WANDS

What if sculpture could become a pilgrimage—five works, five stations of life?
Date: LAUNCHED MARCH 2025

The Wands is a suite of five monumental sculptures carved from the same 100-year-old radiata pine, created as a “living sculpture” project and unveiled in Bendigo before dispersing to multiple sites across the city. Aimee composed accompanying sound works to deepen the reflective, site-based experience.

COMING HOME

How do we remember coming home?

Coming Home was a community driven sound project supported by Phee Broadway Theatre At Home: a Mount Alexander Shire Council program.

Coming Home documents and celebrates the sounds of the commute from the city to our home in the goldfields of Castlemaine and surrounds. The music of train and road trips, once so familiar made almost a memory in the events of 2020, were brought back to life through sound recordings, remixing and a live concert performance at the Phee Broadway Theatre.

HOUSE OF LOONG

What is the sound of a dragon coming home to his community?
Date: LAUNCHED NOV 2024 (3-year installation)

House of Loong is a multimedia experience delivered via an iPad application, telling the story of why three generations of imperial processional dragons—Loong, Sun Loong, and Dai Gum Loong—were commissioned and brought to Bendigo. The project includes a short documentary, an audio experience, and an interactive quiz with 3D animations.

WOMEN OF GOLD

Date: International Women’s Day 2024

Women of Gold is a public-facing project celebrating local women through a short film and exhibition outcomes, including QR-based viewing at Pennyweight Walk Outdoor Gallery and a showcase on the iconic BENDIGO sign in recognition of IWD 2024.

VAST (The Vast Project — Pilbara, WA)

What kind of songs appear when artists live and make work together on ancient land?
Date: 2017–2018

VAST emerged from an intensive remote collaboration in Cossack (Bajinhurrba) bringing together musicians and artists to write and record work inspired by place—released as the album VAST in 2018. Aimee contributed as an artist on the project and album.
